I decided to switch to work exclusively with mobile games, and spent some time creating art hands on for a variety of titles and studios.  This transition helped me understand the needs and capabilities of the medium, and cemented a belief in mobile games as my platform of choice - it's a great forum for the kind of art I love and create, but also with the kinds of games that I find appealing and love seeing people play.

Football Heroes

I worked as a graphic artist on Football Heroes producing character art, featured icons, and app store ads.  I used a mix of Photoshop and Illustrator's 3D capabilities to build many of the assets.

Game Logos

I developed these logos for an indie game of the same name. A very retro-arcade, top down game that inspired me to look towards the past for ideas, right down to an arcade cabinet feel.  The owner picked the bottom one, an exciting piece that feels like it's bursting from the screen done in an arcade marquee style, instantly communicating the retro feel.

Modular Character Concepts

The challenge here was to create modular characters who could mix and match various clothes and accessories, but also level up through progression tiers.  I created the base bodies, then styled all the parts on top.  With the various hair styles and attachments we topped out at over 100 combinations!

Beasts vs. Bots

For a stint I helped produce art for an RTS game where giant monsters fought giant robot creatures in cities throughout the world.

Ground Z Concepts

For this tongue-in-cheek tactical horror game, I was tasked with creating a mood that could be humorous yet never loose its frightening edge.

For the in-game levels, I used lighting (a traditional horror tool) to not only support gameplay, but as a lightweight tool for variety using a small set of environments.

Since the game took place across America, I created a theme based on road trips, using retro DMV guides, maps, and traffic signals in a retro style.  This built a relatable world that the right balance of humor through visual cues (like color and shape) could support the game's tone.
